P.S. Keep a lookout for an announcement from Treasure Island Music Festival on their Facebook or Twitter page (I'm 99.9999% sure it's the lineup, and believe me you don't want to miss out). This is one of my favorite music festivals in the bay and this year it is held in San Francisco on October 13th & 14.
Matt and kim - "LET'S GO"
The video above is the official first listen clip for this track, which happens to be the first single off Matt & Kim's upcoming fall release Lightning. This album is the follow-up to Sidewalks, the 3rd album released from Matt & Kim back in 2010.  The 2009 album Grand will remain as one of my favorites from M&K. This video for "Let's Go" is pretty interesting, as it features Patrick "Pat the Roc" Robinson doing what he does best while M&K are hanging out in the background.
Adventure Club - "NEED YOUR HEART" (FT. Kai)

Thanks to a co-worker for introducing me to SAINT MOTEL about 6 months ago, I've become a fan of this LA band. Click on the link below to listen to "Benny Goodman" on their SoundCloud account, and if you like what you're hearing - it's also available as a free download too!
Onuinu - "HAPPY HOME"
Now I know my descriptions of tracks are often off-the-wall but in my opinion the first thing that comes to my mind when I listened to this track is chillllllllwave. On Onuinu's facebook page, he describes his music as: "Electro Pop, Disco-Hop". Such a great track, and it's off his debut LP Mirror Gazer that will be released on August 21st.
two words: good vibes
Echo Lake - "EVEN THE BLIND"
This track is from Echo Lake's debut album Wild Peace which will be released in the US tomorrow! With all of the hard work devoted to this album, it is extremely sad to find out that their drummer Peter Hayes (a founding member) passed away on Thursday morning at age 25. May you rest in peace! x
Seafoam - "SARAH"
This is the epitome of what you would call "easy on the ears", and I am obsessed with it. I appreciate the simplicity of this track, and I find it to be extremely catchy with the pairing of the lyrics.  "Show me how you see the world. Through your covered eyes". Seafoam consists of John Jagos (aka Brothertiger), and you can buy the self-titled EP
on Seafoam's bandcamp -->here! http://seafoamgreen.bandcamp.com/

New Tunes from Yeasayer/Stars/Peter & the Magician

As of today, LYED (aka this lovely little music blog) is exactly three months old! & it would make the day even more amazing if you would please "like" LYED on facebook! :)
www.facebook.com/LetYourEarsDecide
THANKS & hope you enjoy the three fresh tracks featured below.
Yeasayer was kind enough to release another track from their upcoming full-length album Fragrant World. The name of the track? "Longevity" and it follows the previously released track "Henrietta" perfectly.
This "video vignette" was directed by Yoshi Sodeoka, and it fits perfectly to the exotic yet flowing sounds of "Longevity". Fragrant World will be released on August 21st via Secretly Canadian (an independent record label in Bloomington, Indiana) Other artists that are on this label are Nite Jewel, The War on Drugs, Porcelain Raft, Here We Go Magic, and more!

Also a recent release in the last 24 hours is a new track from Stars, an eloquent indie pop group from Canada. Stars will be releasing their sixth album titled The North on September 4th!  It's been about 2 years since their last studio album The Five Ghosts. The song below is titled "The Theory of Relativity" and is actually the first track off the new album.
Dig it.

Here's another tune that I recently stumbled upon that in my opinion, is too good not to share. It's called "Memory" by Peter & The Magician. This track has a pretty cool tropical sound to it, but super catchy like a Cut Copy track (aka it's a gem). One half of P&TM is Yuksek, a french electronic producer/artist/all of the above. The other half is The Magician, aka Stephen Fasano from Belgium (and an ex-member of Aeroplane). This song will be released worldwide on an EP also titled Memory July 9th on Kitsuné Music.

Another Dose of Youtube Narnia/New From Purity Ring!

So for today's post I decided to do a little research and see what posts have been receiving the most attention. Without a doubt, one of my first posts featuring "The Chronicles of YouTube Narnia" was a winner for some people apparently, so I decided to do a 2nd dose. Not to sound like the ultimate nerd (although I am) but YouTube narnia is quite entertaining. One of the first groups I found while surfing through Youtube narnia was Purity Ring, who I will be talking a little bit about at the end of the post since they just released a new track!
So how does this Narnia expedition start? I decided to start with a track from Baths aka Will Wiesenfeld, an electronic musician from the LA area. This is your go-to if you want mellow relaxing beats. From there on, I just clicked on a random video on the side and went from there. There's not much to say about the videos below, except that they rule & I hope that if you like what you're hearing you'll click on their name which will lead you to their Facebook or the most reliable website for them. Hope you enjoy today's post & don't forget to share with your friends! :)
Baths - "MAXIMALIST"

Flood of Red - "LIKE ELEPHANTS"
Caribou - "BOWLS"
To see Caribou live is on my bucket list. This track is from their 2010 album Swim. Other favorites of mine from that album are: "Leave House" "Odessa" & "Sun"
Regal Safari - "ONLY"
Computer Magic - "RUNNING"
Vondelpark - "HIPBONE"

So one of my favorite groups "PURITY RING" released a brand new track today titled "Fineshrine" from their upcoming LP Shrines , and it's no surprise that I'm diggin' it! Purity Ring was featured in NYLON'S June/July issue, aka "The Music Issue", and consist of Corin Roddick (Production) & Megan James (who provides all of the vocals). From the NYLON article Purity Ring would be "most likely to elicit lucid dreams of space travel, and least likely to write straightforward relatable lyrics" It's definitely a nice way to start the beginning of summer, and Shrines will be released on July 24th on 4AD/Last Gang. Wooohooo!
Like It? Hate it? Not Your Style? I'd love to know!

freshvibesmonday #9

It's Mondaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. One step closer to my graduation from college which is this Friday, wooo!  This past weekend was definitely one of the most hectic yet eventful weekends since I've been living in Santa Barbara. UCSB graduation with festivities left and right. Luckily I was able to find some goodGOODgood tunes for today's post if you're still recovering like me. Hope you dig them like I do. ENJOY!
Cat Power - "RUIN"
September 4th is the day that Sun, the first full-length album from Cat Power since 2008. This album was performed & produced by Cat Power (Chan Marshall) herself! Impressive, and I'm already in love with this song. Just from listening to "Ruin" I have a feeling this album will take another direction from The Greatest.
David Byrne & St. Vincent - "WHO"
Two legends, one album. "Love This Giant" has been in the works since 2009, with the two artists exchanging tracks with each other until they settled with a list of 12. This isn't just an collaborative album, David Byrne & St. Vincent have announced a North American tour with 22 dates (3 of them are in Canada).
The Mynabirds - "BODY OF WORK"
I believe that this track was one of the recent freebies on iTunes, and it's definitely a goodie.cThis track is off her 2012 album titled GENERALS, which i'm slowly becoming addicted to. :)
Madeon - "FINALE"
A newly released track from your favorite teenage deejay, with vocals from Nicholas Petricca. It's interesting to think that Madeon already has a song titled "Finale" when he's at the peak of his career, Irony?
Azealia Banks - "AQUABABE"
What to say about Azealia Banks besides the fact that I'm obsessed with her lyrics, and in case you're wondering she's back on Twitter ;). This track especially reminds me of a Missy Elliot/M.I.A. concoction, but spiked with a synthvibe that flows slightly on post-dubstep surface. Keep an eye out for this track on her upcoming mixtape "Fantasea" due out July 4th.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra - "I'LL COME BACK 4 U
Stumbled across this track this morning when I read about the Adult Swim Singles Program (thanks Pitchfork). This is the first of 12 tracks to be released. Unknown Mortal Orchestra frequented a lot on our store radio when I worked at Urban. Once upon a time I won tickets to see them before finding out that I had a midterm that same night, fail.

*FYF FEST LINEUP ANNOUNCED THIS MORNING & IT'S DEFINITELY WORTH CHECKING OUT. :)

freshvibesmonday #8

Happy Monday to all of you reading this! This past weekend was one of the best weekends for live music in the US with the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival held in Manchester, Tennesse and the Electric Daisy Carnival taking place in Las Vegas. One can only imagine how many new tracks were dropped, so until we know - enjoy some fresh tunes!

Here's a new track from the lovely Lucy Rose. I adore how this track throws me off a bit just like "Red Face" did when I first listened to it. She has such a beautiful voice, and a sweet person when you meet her. Crossing my fingers that Lucy Rose will join Bombay Bicycle Club when they come back to the west coast part of their tour this fall! She opened for BBC earlier this year during their US tour and played a small solo set that was absolutely beautiful. I can only imagine how it will sound with a full band behind her.

Young Wonder - "LUCKY ONE"
If you've had the chance to read previous posts on my blog, you would know that this isn't the first time i've ranted about them. This duo from Ireland has had my full-attention since they released their self-titled debut EP a couple of months ago. In this particular track, "Lucky One" I admire the CocoRosie flavored vocals that are paired with experimental vibes.

Metric - "LOST KITTEN"
MMMMM ready for new music from Metric? Their upcoming album Synthetica is on the verge of being released, and lovely little leaks made their way onto YouTube. The diversity of this album has me drawn to it in it's entirety. This particular track just amazes me for some reason. Emily Haines is one of the darkest lyricists that are overlooked due to the melodies/instruments played against here. I believe that this is the album were a lot of expressions become more apparent and shit really gets real.

Seapony - "WHAT YOU WANTED"
If I'm not obsessing over 80's influenced electronic music, then there's a huge chance I'm probably tapping my foot to a track that makes you want to roll down the windows while driving on the 101 southbound. Seapony is a group that is fairly new to my eyes and ears. This trio formed in 2010, and their sophomore album titled Falling will be released in the fall (September) on an independent label "Hardly Art" that was founded by Subpop. If you have the time, check out the website for Hardly Art- lots of underground artists that are worth checking out like La Sera, The Moondoggies, and more!

2:54 - "CREEPING"
This particular track has been around for quite some time, but it was only a week ago when 2:54 released an official music video for the track. The video I featured above is about 2 weeks old, but I feel like it does the track some justice. Let's just say that whenever I include 2:54 in a playlist, you'll find bands like Warpaint, The Horrors, and Still Corners.
Laura Marling "I SPEAK BECAUSE I CAN" (Live at Coachella 2012)
If I had time to make a full-blown Bonnaroo flavored post featuring my picks to see: this lovely lady named Laura Marling would be one of the first few listed. Her talent seriously gives me the chills, therefore almost every song I hear I generally fall prey to. Laura Marling has collaborated on a few tracks with Mumford & Sons, and she's released 3 albums in the last 4 years. Pretty impressive for a 22 year-old folk musician, right? Unfortunately I missed out on her set from Coachella, but she will be making her way to Santa Barbara in the next couple of weeks thankfully.
Grand Resort - "OCEAN LINER"
Ah Grand Resort, I like you. This is a lo-fi gem that has me dreaming about something beautiful whenever I listen to it. Another summer vibe that makes me wish I'd finish the last of my schoolwork already. Grand Resort consists of Andrés M. Pichardo & promotes the sound of Grand Resort as "tropigaze". I definitely have to agree with you on that. Can't wait to hear more!
L$D - "DON'T SMOKE MY BLUNT BITCH"
If you're feeling a little plain jane these days with your music selection, why not check out Grimes, Kreayshawn, Blood Diamonds....or better yet, L$D which features all of them plus Lady Tragik. They recently released a track titled "DON'T SMOKE MY BLUNT BITCH" and according to a tweet from Grimes herself, the track was recorded in 10 minutes. Check out the video below for the track that took about an hour to make, it's definitely what people would call a good time nowadays (or going apeshit) . If you think about the background of each individual in L$D, this is quite a collaboration. In fact, it's a bit genius. L$D has all of the bases covered to make catchy tracks and shoot hip videos that make you feel like you're missing out on something big...because you are.

freshvibesmonday #7

WOOOHOOO It's Monday. Lots of good vibes in today's post, and if it's finals week for you too - GOOD LUCK!! :)

Adventure ClubRise & Fall ft Krewella (via their SoundCloud)
SOOO Excited when I recently found this fresh track from AC. I'm becoming more and more obsessed with Adventure Club, they always have the best transitions throughout the song that keep me hooked.
On Saturday, the band Oberhofer released a demo for "HOMEBRO" via their BandCamp account. It appears that this track is fairly special to the band, and I can definitely see why.
Kill Paris - "I DO LOVE YOU"
Like what you hear? Check out his SoundCloud here!

How To Dress Well - Ocean Floor For Everything (click to directly listen to it from his SoundCloud page). This was released almost three weeks ago, and will be featured on the upcoming album Total Loss this fall! You can also download this track if your ears approve, fo free.

Flosstradamus & DJ Sliink - Test Me This beat is tasty to say the least. Retrieved from SoundCloud, this message was attached with the track-
'The single from our collaboration with DJ Sliink from the Brick Bandits! NOMADS EP coming soon on Fool's Gold Records!"
Matthew Dear - "HER FANTASY"
This track is the second single from Beams that will be released on August 27th! It's super low-key, enjoy.

Slowdance - "BOYFRIEND"
MMM. You just can't go wrong with a track drenched in 80's summer vibe. Calia, if you're reading this - this has your name written all over it.

Last night I was lucky enough to catch The Head and the Heart at The Fillmore in San Francisco with a few friends for FREE (thanks Kristen!) The Fillmore will always be one of my favorite venues, never pass up a show there if you live in the area! They also performed Friday & Saturday night at this venue, and last night's sold out show was absolutely packed! They performed practically everything from their debut self-titled album, along with a few new songs! They started off with the first song off their album titled "Cats and Dogs" that transitioned perfectly into "Coeur D'Alene". Their set ended with "Rivers and Roads", then came back to play a new track and ended the encore with "Down in the Valley". Overall it was a wonderful show, and I'm excited to hear more about the new unreleased tracks that were exposed last night!
