ON AN ON - Give In

I'm so excited to say that Hype Machine has created an exclusive stream of ON AN ON's debut album Give In up until the release date (January 29th via Roll Call Records). ON AN ON was by far one of my favorite finds last year with only releasing two hauntingly beautiful tracks "Ghosts" & "The Hunter". Head over to Roll Call Records to read more about this talented trio from Chicago & Minneapolis.
Give In is definitely an album that will melt in your eardrums as each song drifts by like an elegant ghost made up of synthesizers & a variety of instruments. Produced by Dave Newfield who has a large amount of material from Broken Social Scene under his production belt. So take my word - give this album a proper listen from beginning to end & prepare to embark on this mind-melting roller coaster.
ON AN ON are currently on tour with Geographer - check out the string of tour dates below to see if they're coming to a city near here!

Sounds For Your Sunday

Hope this post finds you in the middle of a lazy Sunday, the way all Sunday's should be spent!
*^Almost to 400! Woohoo^*

Now, Now - "THREAD"
Thanks to the sidebar on YouTube, I found this Minneapolis-based trio the other day & haven't stopped listening to them since. It was actually this track that I first listened to, and about halfway through the song I felt something click in my mind. It wasn't long before I found myself on a listening rampage with Threads, their sophomore album which was released last March. I chose to not only feature the official video for "Thread" by Now, Now but also - check out the entire album in its entirety (on Spotify) below! This album is amazing and exerts so much emotion I can't even wrap my head around it, it's that good.

Hope you enjoyed the album just as much as I did!
Coasts - "OCEANS"
This is another band that I recently stumbled across, and I'm very happy that I did. Coasts are a 5-piece band from Bristol, and have been a band since May of 2011. "Oceans" is the first single to be released from their debut EP titled Paradise. Just by listening to this song alone, I'm a fan of their tropical indie vibes. I can definitely can see how bands like Foals and Future Islands are cited as the main influences for Coasts.  So take my word & check these guys out
Local Natives - "BOWERY"
Hummingbird is almost here! Here's another track off the forthcoming album titled "Bowery". For those of you who live in the Los Angeles area, Local Natives will be playing a live set at Amoeba Records in Hollywood on the 29th of this month (which is also the release date for Hummingbird). "Bowery" is a beautiful track that contributes to the emotional framework that is found within their sophomore album. Not only will Local Natives be playing at SXSW in Austin, but for those of you in the Dallas/Fort Worth area - they will be playing a show on March 16th (Saturday) at South Side Music Hall!

Cold War Kids Are Back!

© cararobbins
It's not like Cold War Kids ever left, I guess I just lost track of them after their last album Mine Is Yours. This isn't to say I forgot about their material (because believe me I still listen to Robbers & Cowards religiously), but I guess I wasn't following them like I do with other bands. I caught their set at Coachella 2011 which ended on a perfect note with "Saint John" (one of my favorites off Robbers & Cowards). It was literally this time last year when I stumbled across "Minimum Day", a single CWK released that was backed with "Minimum Mistake", which reminded me a LOT of their 2nd album Loyalty to Loyalty. It was to my surprise when I read yesterday that some "BIG news" would be exposed to us today. Not only was a brand new track "Miracle Mile" released, but a string of tour dates were posted via CWK's website. In addition, trailer #2 was uploaded onto YouTube which features various clips that were captured during the recording process of their upcoming album titled Dear Miss LonelyHearts.
I guess I missed the memo when they posted last week about the completion of album #4, zoops! Check out trailer #1 below for the LMLH which will be released on April 2nd! Expect a new trailer to be released weekly!
I was sad to find out that CWK will not be playing a show in Dallas/Fort Worth, but pretty stoked for my friends in California! Of the California dates, they will be playing at SoHo (one of my favorite venues located in Santa Barbara) on February 23rd! If you're reading this & live in SB, you better not let this amazing opportunity to see Cold War Kids in a small & intimate venue like SoHo pass you by!

freshvibesmonday #20

So much has happened in the past month (in the music world) I don't even know where to begin. It seems like every week has been filled with exciting music announcements regarding album releases and tour dates from artists I wasn't expecting to hear from. Specifically, Destiny's Child released a brand new track titled "Nuclear" and as I posted on the Facebook Page for LYED - Justin Timberlake released a brand new track with Jay-Z & produced by Timbaland. What really got me excited was hearing that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performed 2 new songs recently at the Glass House in Pomona, California.
"Suck Young Blood"
We now know (thanks to Pitchfork) that their upcoming full-length release is titled Mosquito & will be released on April 16th on Interscope Records. Check out the album art above which was created by filmmaker/animator Beomsik Shimbe Shim
Hope you enjoy today's list of songs/videos! :)
Santigold - "GIRLS"
"GIRLS" was indeed made for the soundtrack of HBO Girls, and this adorable yet funky video was released earlier today! If you didn't believe in Santigold before; you should now.
California Wives - "BLOOD RED YOUTH"
I've been hearing this track at work for quite some time now, and once I finally figured out who it was (thanks to SoundHound) I wanted to share it! This track is the opener on their debut full-length titled Art History via Vagrant Records which was released last September. Listen to it here!
Yo La Tengo - "OHM"
I decided to feature a YLT track off their new album Fade, which arrives tomorrow (among other amazing albums that I'll mention at the end of this post)! Woo.
Shout Out Louds - "WALKING IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS"
Shout Out Louds, a Swedish indie band whose sound reminds me of Stars - a very carefree and breezy sound. They've been together for ten years now, and will be releasing their next full-length on February 26th! The name of the album is Optica & is where you will find "Walking in Your Footsteps". ALSO: Shout Out Louds will be at SXSW!
The Ruby Suns - "KINGFISHER"
Off their upcoming album Christopher which will be album #4 for this New Zealand trio & yes, the image for the video is in fact the album cover. Check out The Ruby Suns' artist page over on Sub Pop Records if you get the chance!

Not only is Yo La Tengo releasing a new album tomorrow, but Free Energy, Holopaw, and A$AP Rocky are too! Pretty sure everyone and their brother are excited for Long.Live.A$AP, including yours truly.
ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR MONDAY! :)

Flight Facilities Triple J Mix / AlunaGeorge

So my fascination with Flight Facilities isn't something that's new, and here's another reason as to why I'm a huge fan of this mysterious duo.

Earlier tonight FF uploaded this lovely hour-long mix onto SoundCloud & it is the first of their "decade mixes" from their residency mix series over at Triple J. This particular playlist targets the 1972-1982 time period, and starts off just right with Stevie Wonder's "Superstition". All you gotta do is push play and let the music take over from there. The best thing about this playlist? - IT'S FREE!

By the way, have you heard of AlunaGeorge? This duo from London had an amazing set at Pitchfork Paris last year, and placed 2nd in BBC Sound of 2013! Listen to "Your Drums, Your Love" above & believe me when I say that this is something you can't listen to only once. AlunaGeorge recently released a brand new track titled "Diver" & also covered one of my favorite tracks by Frank Ocean. Click here to see which one it is! Their debut album Body Music will be released this summer! Stoked.

LYED - Putting A Plug On 2012

Over the past couple of weeks I've made several attempts at creating posts that feature my favorite songs/albums of 2012, but to be honest - 2012 was an AMAZING year for music. There were too many to individually list on a blog post (could you imagine how long the post would be?) From my involvement with this lovely music blog, I was able to find/discover amazing artists such as: ON AN ON, Kill Paris, The NeighbourhoodJessie Ware, Alt-J, Breton, Star Slinger, CHVRCHES, and more! More specifically, creating posts like "Getting Under The Covers" and "YouTube Narnia" helped expand my appreciation of music by miles. Can't forget how many concerts/festivals I attended in the various cities & states, and that my friends is what made this year AMAZING. If you ever get the chance to see a band live, DON'T PUT IT PAST YOU! Mark my words. New or old, popular or underground.... live music is something I deeply treasure & hope you do too!
I was recently asked to guest blog about my Top 10 albums on The Source Weekly, and in addition you can check out what I had to say about my #1 album of 2012 - Halcyon by Ellie Goulding! Special thanks to Ethan Maffey for giving LYED this amazing opportunity! You can check out everything Ethan has posted in terms of  "Best Of ____ (aka everything music related)" by clicking HERE! It's a pretty amazing compilation of lists to say the least.
P.S. By clicking on TSW link above, you can see which tracks I picked from my Top 10 favorite albums - definitely worth checking out
So instead of multiple posts, I decided to sum everything up (that could be accounted for on Spotify) on a Playlist instead! This is a compiled list of songs that were either featured here on LYED or on the FB page for LYED. There's a handful of gems that are on this playlist that might have slipped past LYED posts, my apologies! Although this list is pretty lengthy, it definitely could have been longer because several songs I had blogged about in the past weren't available on Spotify *insert sad emoji face*. If there is a track/artist that I forgot to add on the playlist (which wouldn't surprise me) LET LYED KNOW by posting on LYED'S FB Page, which is less than 40 likes away from 400. I would be more than happy to add your suggestions! :)
PLEASE SPREAD THE LYED LOVE!
So, here is the amazing playlist that best defines LYED (from a Spotify point of view). I hope this playlist brings back old & amazing memories from the past year or attracts you to an artist that you've never heard before! Thanks everyone! XX
