Sami Akbari and Aaron Mort make up The Bad Years, a duo currently based in Los Angeles, CA. It was their debut single "The Common Mistake" that caught my attention back in November and immediately was added to freshvibesmonday #52.

Since discovering The Bad Years, I've been feeling "curiouser and curiouser" about these two and what the follow-up would consist of. The result was a direction that was different than I expected, but instead more of a progressive step towards establishing their sound in a way that still remains fresh and not redundant. Their debut EP Beautiful Liar drops this upcoming Tuesday, but they have it streaming now over on their SoundCloud page. Have a listen below & let me know what you think!
Each of the 4 songs bring something special to the table, but "Giving Up" might just take the cake for being the breadwinner of Beautiful Liar. The closing track leans more on the raw side which rounds out the EP quite nicely. This is definitely a body of work for fans of Tennis/Wild Belle/Widowspeak.
