3Y3 CANDY

Distorted visuals, a glowing cow, and every color under the sun.

Here are 3 different videos from 3 different artists/bands that have caught my eye to say the least. Make sure your eyes are ready for what's in store.

Wait never mind, that's my mom.

Second best isn't bad though, and guess what - you'll even get a prize!

Bloc Party - "Ratchet"

Live videos of this unreleased track first surfaced onto YouTube a couple of months ago, but now here's the proper one for "Ratchet." Mind boggling, but it seems that they've just edited the hell out of the video for "Octopus" aka the first single from their most recent studio release Four. After finding myself a bit disappointed with their last album, I have hope that their forthcoming EP The Nextwave Sessions will be something that I can actually enjoy.

Bleached - "Dead In Your Head"

The more I listen to Ride Your Heart, the more I fall in love with this spunky California band. This video isn't something out of the ordinary, but goes so well with the song that I just want to watch it over & over again. Plus, when was the last time you experienced a color oozing music video for a song that reaks of a bad breakup?

M.I.A. - "Bring The Noize"

Did you really think I was going to let this amazing video slip by? So about a week ago, we were graced with a gem called "Bring The Noize" from our girl M.I.A.  I had no idea that I would soon be watching a video that made me wish I could rock fuchsia hair and an all white wardrobe on the daily. This energetic tune is one for the books, and if you haven't already - check out Noisey, one of the best websites/music channels you'll ever stumble across.

Austra - "HOME"

I know, I know... I've already posted about this magnificent song, but I have a good reason as to why I'm talking about it ... again. Today we were graced with the official music video for "Home",  the first single off Austra's sophomore release Olympia, and boy was it a good one. Not only does the video feature EVERY member of the band, but timed in a manner that when each member appeared in the video, their instrumental (or lyrical) contribution to the song started.....yes, I went there in the realm of nerding out on a music video.  Yesterday via Austra's Facebook page we were given a fair warning that the video would be released today, as well as "A simple and intimate concept, we hoped to capture the sadness and longing of the track in one take through a two-way mirror." Simple & intimate indeed. You can pre-order Olympia now on iTunes, Domino Records, or over at Paper Bag Records!

Marina and the Diamonds & Charli XCX - "JUST DESSERTS"

Right before these two head on tour together, Marina (of Marina and the Diamonds) & Charli XCX released "Just Desserts"earlier today. Tomorrow night (May 2nd) they play in Seattle, Washington & if you're curious to see if they're coming your way - here ya go!

They're both experts in making pop music & writing about the ultimate heartbreak in their own unique way.. but to have both of them on a single track is every girl (or guys) dream. Also, Charli XCX's debut album True Romance was released this past month and take my word for it - for a debut album it's pretty solid from beginning to end.. listen to it on Spotify now!

P.S. You can download "Just Desserts" for free here!

Young Galaxy - "FEVER"

Through an exchange of e-mails with a friend a few weeks ago, it was brought to my attention that I needed to check out Young Galaxy & i'm glad that I did. I'm a huge fan of their latest studio release Ultramarine that dropped just last week via Paper Bag Records! This is album number 4 for the Montreal 5-piece, and after you listen to it (featured below) I highly recommend checking out their previous albums!

  Young Wonder - "ELECTRIFIED"

Gearing up for the release of their sophomore EP Show Your Bones, Young Wonder was nice enough to let us in on another new song called "Electrified". It's been a solid year since the release of their self-titled debut EP & in less than a week Show Your Bones will be officially here (May 6th) via Feel Good Lost Records!  In case you missed it (or are not familiar with LYED on Facebook) YW released a stellar music video for the first single off SYB called "Time". It's without a doubt one of the best & most impressive music videos (along with "Home" by Austra) released this year, check it out here!

So far this EP is 2 for 2 in my book. :)

Sunday Vibes: CHROMATICS - "Cherry"

Chromatics - "CHERRY"

This lovely four-piece from Oregon have been continuing to amaze us after the release of their last album Kill For Love (via ITALIANS DO IT BETTER). A couple weeks ago I posted the last piece of material from Chromatics titled "Looking for Love", and I am pleased about this new one "Cherry". It's a bit lighter sounding, but is just as hypnotizing as "Looking for Love". If you're unfamiliar with this group, then definitely give this band a listen. Chromatics are a type of band that create "sexy/dark electronic music" that works well for a variety of scenes. They sounded great at the FYF Fest in Los Angeles a couple months ago, but I would love to see them perform at an indoor venue. Even when I listen a track from Chromatics during the day time, my mind feels like I'm out venturing in the dark.

Following the release of this song, the video for "Cherry" was released and noted that this is the 4th single from After Dark 2. In addition the video was "filmed while recording in Montreal (April 2011) & In Chromatic's House in Portland". Adam Miller & Alberto Rossini are the ones held responsible for capturing this gem of a video.

You can download this wonderful track off of Johnny Jewel's SoundCloud by clicking HERE . If you have a minute, browse through his page where you'll find a variety of material from Chromatics, Glass Candy, and his own personal remixes of tracks.

P.S. I'm currently shoved in a corner on a BoltBus heading back to Philly, so hopefully I made a bit of sense on this post. Shoutout to BoltBus for the free wi-fi though! :) Hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
