FRESHVIBESMONDAY #63

HAPPY MONDAY!
Gems on gems on gems, definitely excited to see a lot of fresh names in the mix & especially Oh Wonder who are releasing a new original track each month. Doing the same is FMLYBND, who happened to be last week's Friday Fascination. This is a trend that I'm definitely a fan of. Now excuse me while I re-listen to Missy Elliott's entire discography.

freshvibesmonday #16

Don't forget to check out "LYED" ON:
WOO HOO LET YOUR EARS DECIDE IS OFFICIALLY BACK! After a variety of exams and flights across the United States LYED is now stationed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and ready for business! :) The original FVM #16 post (which should have been posted last Monday) was a pretty mellow one if I do say so myself. Since I've had some time to continue researching, I'm not going to lie that I'm more excited about this post. This is due to the list of events that have taken place and distracted me from posting last week's edition. I've stumbled upon more gems which means this edition of freshvibesmonday shares a similarity to the past ones, providing musical breadth and definitely going somewhat in-depth.

I'm not afraid to admit that I sometimes play favorites with this music blog, and that is because of how low-key I keep it at times. If you have the slightest bit of knowledge about my brunette self, you would know that I treasure Ellie Goulding & Bombay Bicycle Club equally. I will always have a passion for Ellie Goulding, as last year was quite a growing year for her. The follow-up to her debut album will be released on October 9th in the US and it's called Halcyon. Although I adore the remix that Blood Diamonds did for the latest Ellie track, I must admit I've found a special spot in my hear for this remix from Birdy Nam Nam. It puts a smile on your face, and I am in love with the picture of Ellie Goulding above. Just wait until you see the pictures I have of Ellie from last year to declare how much of a Goulddigger I am. xx

My knowledge of Eliza Doolittle isn't the amount that I'd like it to be, but I do know something about this woman: she isn't afraid to speak her mind. It's one thing to make comments during controversial interviews, but Eliza Doolittle saves her thoughts and disposes them at the right time. This song is so mesmerizing that at first you might be distracted from the punch that this track delivers when you first listen to it. Take my word and give it a few listens, you'll know what I mean.
Datsik - "JUICEBOX"
Datsik deserves a lot of credit in my opinion, he had one of the toughest slots at Coachella this year (the same time as Swedish House Mafia's set which took place on the Main Stage) yet managed to still deliver a Coachella-worthy set. Datsik hasn't let that get to him, and this particular song "Juicebox" is an example of how easily Troy Beetles can fuck with your mind into thinking that you shouldn't re-think the next time he plays a set in your town.
pennybirdrabbit - "DAYLIGHT"
If this artist doesn't ring a bell to you, don't fret. If you're familiar with Skrillex then you should already be familiar with her voice as she provided the vocals for "All I Ask of You" off his first EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Since then she's worked/performed with a variety of artists including Porter Robinson & The M Machine.  Check out more of Penny's music on her SoundCloud account. Share this lovely woman's music with your friends, family, pets, because it is free and you can't go wrong with something that's free right? Penny is a beautiful vocalist that I seriously hope to hear more from in the future!
How To Dress Well - "RUNNING BACK"
Off the forthcoming album Total Loss, ghostly R&B is indeed Tom Krell's forte. The album drops tomorrow and let's just say this isn't an album you can push play in hopes to entertain a children's 10th birthday party. This is the type of music that is meant for you, and other serious music aficionados. If you're a fan of Blood Orange, then definitely look into this album!

Imogen Heap - Xizi She Knows
This song was released via Imogen Heaps' SoundCloud Account about 8 months ago, and I am so disappointed that I'm just now finding out about this gem. Check out Imogen Heap's SoundCloud account  for more treats if this is the first time you've heard about this lovely individual.
Grizzly Bear - "SPEAK IN ROUNDS"
First off, if the only familiarization you have with Grizzly Bear is that damn "Two Weeks" song that plays on nearly EVERY Pandora station imaginable FORGET ABOUT IT. This new album is something bigger and better, and hopefully won't be frequenting on every single Pandora station (yes, it  even made it's way onto my Martin Solveig station one time). It has taken quite a bit of time to get this album out, but I definitely am one to say that it is something worth the waiting. The album comes out TOMORROW, and I'm stoked for those of you who haven't had a chance to preview it via NPR.
Daughter - "MEDICINE"
This is made available due to WatchListenTell, a beautiful collaboration I found via YouTube. This channel has captured some of the most amazing artists (and especially favorites of mine like Bombay Bicycle Club, Lucy Rose, Two Door Cinema Club, and more recently Jessie Ware). By playing an amazing track in a beautiful setting, this makes for a WONDERFUL video. So in return we must tell others about this type of scenario that is currently going on as a way of spreading the word!

FRESHVIBESMONDAY #14

SO MANY ERRANDS for a Monday. This perfectly explains how my day went so excuse how late this post is. I added a few more tracks than usual because I spent a little too much time indoors (it was 104 degrees outside up until 8PM yesterday). Hope you guys enjoy tonight's post! Tomorrow is a big day for album releases FYI, Passion Pit & Purity Ring's album will finally be up for grabs among others LEGALLY. WOOOOO!
Bat For Lashes - "LAURA"
Here's the first dose of the new Bat For Lashes material off her upcoming album The Haunted Man. This will be the first studio album since her 2009 release Two Suns. The US release date is October 23rd, and do not expect anything less than theatrical for what's to come.
Milo Greene - "SILENT WAY"
This type of beautiful melody is easy on the ears to say the least. If you have a second, give their self-titled debut album a listen! Milo Greene just released a list of tour dates on their website, check them out here
Kill Paris - "THE LOVE WE SHARED"
This track samples Ivan Gough's "In My Mind", and if you're digging on it then help yourself to the free download of this track --> HERE! What's awesome about Kill Paris is that most of the tracks on his SoundCloud account are available as a free download, and they're kind of amazing.

Bloc Party - "OCTOPUS (RAC Mix)"
Those that are apart of RAC (Remix Artist Collective) know how to take a decent song, and transform it into something different. You can always count on some form of a groovy flow/tone if it's a RAC mix, and that's the truth.
How To Dress Well - "COLD NITES"
If you're a fan of Active Child, then you'll probably find yourself drooling over this track. Active Child & HTDW actually collaborated on an amazing track called"Playing House" that I featured on LYED awhile back. There's only one person in How To Dress Well, and that's Tom Krell from Brooklyn. His voice give

The xx - "ANGELS" (Theatre of Delays Remix)
Breton - "JOSTLE"
Just stumbled across this experimental rock band from London while I was on La Blogotheque's website the other day. Breton was featured as one of the more recent "Take Away Shows"with this song, and it wasn't long before I was hooked on their sound. Don't let the horrible review on Pitchfork for their debut album Other People's Problems change your mind about these guys. Give their album a chance, it's worth it.
Ghost Beach - "BEEN THERE BEFORE"
Available for free download on their website http://www.ghostbeachmusic.com/ - It's a fun one in my book. If Neon Indian & Reptar had a child together, it would be Ghost Beach. The End
Kitten - "CUT IT OUT"
This trio from Los Angeles will be the opening act for Charli XCX's LA show @ the Troubadour on August 17th! That night will be nothing but dark bubblegum jams, and I'm curious to see how it will turn out.

Thank You! :)

freshvibesmonday #7

WOOOHOOO It's Monday. Lots of good vibes in today's post, and if it's finals week for you too - GOOD LUCK!! :)

Adventure ClubRise & Fall ft Krewella (via their SoundCloud)
SOOO Excited when I recently found this fresh track from AC. I'm becoming more and more obsessed with Adventure Club, they always have the best transitions throughout the song that keep me hooked.
On Saturday, the band Oberhofer released a demo for "HOMEBRO" via their BandCamp account. It appears that this track is fairly special to the band, and I can definitely see why.
Kill Paris - "I DO LOVE YOU"
Like what you hear? Check out his SoundCloud here!

How To Dress Well - Ocean Floor For Everything (click to directly listen to it from his SoundCloud page). This was released almost three weeks ago, and will be featured on the upcoming album Total Loss this fall! You can also download this track if your ears approve, fo free.

Flosstradamus & DJ Sliink - Test Me This beat is tasty to say the least. Retrieved from SoundCloud, this message was attached with the track-
'The single from our collaboration with DJ Sliink from the Brick Bandits! NOMADS EP coming soon on Fool's Gold Records!"
Matthew Dear - "HER FANTASY"
This track is the second single from Beams that will be released on August 27th! It's super low-key, enjoy.

Slowdance - "BOYFRIEND"
MMM. You just can't go wrong with a track drenched in 80's summer vibe. Calia, if you're reading this - this has your name written all over it.

Last night I was lucky enough to catch The Head and the Heart at The Fillmore in San Francisco with a few friends for FREE (thanks Kristen!) The Fillmore will always be one of my favorite venues, never pass up a show there if you live in the area! They also performed Friday & Saturday night at this venue, and last night's sold out show was absolutely packed! They performed practically everything from their debut self-titled album, along with a few new songs! They started off with the first song off their album titled "Cats and Dogs" that transitioned perfectly into "Coeur D'Alene". Their set ended with "Rivers and Roads", then came back to play a new track and ended the encore with "Down in the Valley". Overall it was a wonderful show, and I'm excited to hear more about the new unreleased tracks that were exposed last night!
